Premiership coach Dave Stuart took the Steamers to a grand final win in August before stepping aside from the role.
The club has since been on the hunt for a replacement and president Justin Clancy hopes to secure one before Christmas.
"It's still pending confirmation but we hope to confirm something in the very near future," Clancy said yesterday.
"Hopefully later this week or even early next week."
Albury romped to a title win four months ago, beating Waratahs 41-7 in the grand final after completing a clean sweep to remain undefeated throughout the year.
SIRU's 2013 leading points scorer James Olds and big prop Scott Meakins have since moved to Canberra and are not expected to return to the Steamers camp next season.
"That's about it as far as player movements go so far," Clancy said.
The Steamers are one of four SIRU clubs yet to secure a coach for 2014.
Ag College, Cootamundra and Leeton are all pending appointment after losing their 2013 coaches.
New Aggies president Phil Koch admits it has been hard tracking down a replacement for the outgoing Richard Turnbull, who has indicated he will step down from the job.
"Richard is happy to help out but he's told us he can't commit to a full-time position like he has in the past," Koch said.
Turnbull endured a disappointing 2013 season with the Aggies when they made the first division grand final but lost to Leeton.
They have since lost the services of captain Dave Armstrong and Ben Leaper.
Koch admitted time is running out to find a suitable coach for the university club.
"Ideally we would like to have one already," he said.
"But definitely as soon as possible.
"We've got people out there spreading the word but so far we haven't got any bites for the job.
"There are plenty of people willing to help us out but no one wants to commit all their time."
Ag College plans to commence pre-season training in late January, with or without a new coach.
Koch hopes the return of university in February will bring with it some more talent to bolster the playing roster.
