COLEAMBALLY has moved to bolster its midfield in a big way by signing gun onballer Brett Guest.
The travelled midfielder put pen to paper on Thursday night, alongside Narrandera premiership player Drew Kenna to play for the Blues in 2014.
Guest has spent time with Leeton-Whitton, Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock, Singleton and Barellan, finishing third in Barellan's best and fairest count this year after playing only a handful of games.
A broken arm and work commitments kept him off the field but Coleambally president Shane Mannes says Guest will be raring to go when the season kicks off in April.
"We've been talking to Brett for a while but he's been busy with work, it's just been a matter of nailing it down," Mannes said.
"He's a very good player, a quick midfielder who will be a really handy get for us."
Mannes believes Guest would be in the top echelon of midfielders in the Farrer League next year.
Kenna, a small utility type, won an RFL premiership with Narrandera in 2012 and will be another handy inclusion in the Blues' squad.
"Drew is good mates with Jack Painting through the trots so we were pretty lucky to get him that way," Mannes said.
The arrival of Guest and Kenna takes Coleambally's total list of incoming players to six for the off-season.
They join gun key position player Fred Stephan from Geelong, John Evans, Kabe Stockton and Painting on the roster.
The Blues are fast becoming one of the big movers of the Farrer League, having so far only lost the services of Andrew McGown and Mitch Barry.
Mannes says the club isn't done yet.
"We are talking to another big guy who would top us off nicely," he said.
"He can play back or forward and should be a big signing when we get him.
"Another forward and a couple of midfielders would be nice."
Coleambally will be out to shake the Farrer League wooden spoon, which it has collected every season since joining the competition three years ago.
