COLLINGULLIE-Ashmont-Kapooka has started the arduous task of replacing some key losses with the addition of two young guns for next season.
The Demons have secured the services of promising key forward Nathan Kickett and will welcome back Jimmy Kennedy after two seasons at Osborne.
CAK coach Shane Lenon was pleased to welcome two footballers to the club after the departure of key trio Marc Geppert, Ben Absolum and Curtis Allen already this off-season.
There is also strong speculation key defender Will Haines has left the Demons for an assistant coach position at Culcairn.
Kickett arrives from West Broken Hill, where he kicked 21 goals from 12 games and was named in the club's best on eight occasions.
Kennedy will return to CAK on the back of a strong season at Osborne and will join brothers Dan, Matt and Nick at the Demons.
Lenon was thrilled to land both players.
"Nathan is a 20-year-old good-sized footballer who hopefully has a lot of upside and can play either full-forward or centre-half-forward," Lenon said yesterday.
"My contact at Broken Hill says he will come down here and play some good footy.
"He said he's got some serious talent and the change will do him good.
"We've also got Jimmy Kennedy back after two years at Osborne."
Lenon also revealed the club was in talks with former Demons players James Morris and Tom Edgar, but their availability next year depends on employment.
CAK has re-signed the majority of its senior players from last season, most notably the likes of Chris Gordon, Brad Aiken, Geoff Spriggs and Josh Meiselbach.
Lenon was especially rapt to re-sign Spriggs, who has stepped down from the assistant coaching role.
"Spriggs has stepped down as assistant to concentrate on playing," Lenon said.
"He had a sensational year.
"He had 16 goals kicked on him for the year, that's an awesome effort."
The Demons are still in the hunt for a high-profile type assistant coach and are in talks with "a few" players.
Lenon hopes the Demons can put together a list similar to that of last season, when they went down in the grand final.
"It looks to be at this stage, apart from Turvey Park, that clubs are losing players," Lenon said.
"It's getting hard, and I think the exciting part for us is the young blokes we've got coming up.
"They are the future of our footy club and it will be good to see how they develop."
