Defeated by grand final foe Kooringal, Uranquinty are determined to return to the winners list against in-form Diamonds at Equex Netball Centre on Saturday.
The young Diamonds outfit has been in sterling form and hasn’t tasted defeat since May 25 against Uranquinty, who scored an eight-goal victory.
Although Diamonds have the talent to match it with the competition leaders, the experience of Uranquinty’s seasoned players Jemima Norbury and Brydee Clarke may be the difference for victory.
Both teams boast tall shooters which pose problems for its opponents.
Uranquinty star Olivia Lang will give Diamonds counterpart Claudia Barton and Tara Horne a real challenge, while Diamonds’ Allison Miller will have to be closely checked by Clarke and Norbury.
A highlight of the game should be the clash between rival centres Abby Dixon and Sarah O’Leary, who are both young, fast and excellent links between defence and attack.
Kooringal’s upset win over Uranquinty on Saturday was its second from five starts, and will attempt the same feat against Turvey Park.
Although Kooringal were run out winners during the last clash between the pair, Turvey Park has shown improvement on the court, especially at the defensive end where Jaimee Smith and Haylie Graham are in excellent form.
However, if Turvey Park is to continue its improvement, much will depend on Graham and Smith to curb the effectiveness of the Kooringal’s sharp-shooters Melissa Sykes and Jo Wade.
Kooringal welcomed back former champion defender Tracy Logan last week and she should be all the better this Saturday with a game under her belt.
A win to Turvey Park would place them firmly in the top four, Kooringal is desperate to ensure it’s finals chances.
Meanwhile, New Kids Aces and Panthers will attempt to revive its inconsistent seasons on Saturday.
Aces are as good as any team in the competition with its best seven on the court, but disruptions have cost the team this season.
Should the likes of Lisa Reynoldson, Emma Kleine, Jemma Buchanan and Lisa Frow return to the lineup, Aces should take the points.
Panthers hope to welcome back key players, and will look to Tegan Cuthbert, Kirsty Lowe and Jess Wadley to continue good form if they are to claim victory.
