FOR the second time this season, Lake Albert Stingers proved far too strong for Blu-Js in an A-grade softball game at French Fields on Saturday. After beating the Blues earlier in the competition, the Stingers absolutely blitzed the team 16-5.The Stingers led only 4-3 after three innings, but scored runs in each of their remaining four innings to gradually build a big lead. The majority of the Stingers batters managed at least one safe hit as the team finished with a flurry of runs.Leading in the batting department was Nicole Eyles, who recorded an amazing six safe hits.Pitcher Jess Grant produced a fine double, gaining three hits and conceding only six hits to the Blues batters.Blu-Js veterans Sue Mohr got two hits and Julie-Ann Hallam one hit to be responsible for half of their team's hits.Youngsters Emma Post and Stacy Morgan and reliable Erica Guy were the only others to have safe hits. The convincing win will keep the Stingers in second position over the mid-season break, but Blu-Js will hope for better fortune in the second half of the season.
