MOTOR RACINGBy Stephanie MuirWAGGA racing identity Hayden Pullen will have the perfect finish to his preparation for his V8 Supercar debut, after being named Terry Nightingale's co-driver for the Wakefield 300.Pullen was handpicked by the Nightingale Motorsport team for Wakefield's popular annual mini-endurance event. In a sign of the talented local driver's rising status in the sport, and in a massive coup for motorsport in the city, Pullen will accompany regular HQ Holden driver in a 'Future Racer' owned by Chris Clearihan of Canberra.Pullen is seen by the Nightingale Motorsport team as a versatile driver, coming from a background complete with experience in a range of motorsport categories.Team Manager Brian Nightingale declared Pullen's outstanding record as a driver was the deciding factor for the Wagga driver to be selected to accompany Terry."Hayden has a great record, and is extremely versatile, having won many races in karts, speedway, the biodiesel Supertruck Series, V8 Brute Ute racing in the Super TT V8 Ute class in the AMRS series and more recently with an impressive V8 Supercar test at Winton Raceway with Seiders Racing," he said."On top of that, he has incredible engineering skills including race-car suspension setup, engine building and Dyno tuning using his vast knowledge of ECU setup and tuning on his Dyno Dynamics Dyno."The 137-lap, 300km race will be final race event for Pullen before he contests the Fujitsu V8 Supercar race at the Sydney Telstra 500 at Homebush. In what is hopefully an indication of what is to come, Pullen and Nightingale will drive in a car owned by one half of last year's combination.Clearihan drove a Future Racer to victory last year, and will be looking for Pullen and Nightingale to emulate his success. The Wakefield 300 has attracted a field of 25, with free admission for both days of racing.
