MT AUSTIN High School hockey team has continued its fine form with an eight-goal demolition of Kingswood High. The local girls put on an outstanding performance at Jubilee Park yesterday to progress to the next level of the Combined High Schools state knockout competition.Mt Austin High coach Michael Marien was ecstatic about the final result."It was a great win by the girls," Marien said after the game."The first 25 minutes was a bit rusty but then we seemed to click into gear."They (Kingswood High) had a pretty good goalkeeper playing so we struggled a bit to score, but once we got that first goal it really opened up for us."I think this is the first time in a long time the team has made it this far."Mt Austin High managed to overcome some early roadblocks yesterday and finished off strongly to claim a dominant 8-0 victory.Kira McBeath bagged an impressive four goals for the game, well assisted by Zoe Griffin and Shae McMahon in attack.Marien says the win was a good team effort."About half the girls play hockey on the weekends," he said."There is some good young talent in the school."Mt Austin High will now take on a much stronger opponent, Taree High School in two weeks' time."I'd say that will be a tougher game than today (yesterday)," Marien said."We probably need to work on our communication and teamwork a bit before then."
