Goodes has spent plenty of one-on-one time with Cunningham over the past week and had nothing but praise for the 18-year-old in Wagga yesterday.
Cunningham has spent the last week training with the Swans in the hope of gaining a spot on their rookie list.
Goodes yesterday revealed the teenager had actually upstaged him in a recent three-kilometre time trial and was left to finish some 48 seconds behind.
"Harry's actually been training with me," Goodes revealed yesterday.
"I only started back last week and he's only been up there a week so we've been running together.
"He ran a really impressive three-kilometre time trial the other day and actually beat me.
"He ran 10.25 and I ran 11.13, so he did pretty well."
Cunningham has been an outstanding junior in Wagga for a number of years and helped Turvey Park to a grand final appearance last year.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, he spent most of this season on either representative commitments or with Greater Western Sydney (GWS) Giants.
Goodes hopes the Swans add him to their list.
"He's going really good," Goodes said.
"He's a really good kid and has a lot of positives about him.
"We've got the rookie draft next week and hopefully he is one of the guys the club look to pick up.
"He looks very promising."
The pre-season and rookie draft will take place at 11am on Tuesday.
