WAGGA RSL confirmed its status as the team to beat in the upcoming final series with a dominant 58-run victory over South Wagga at McPherson Oval on Saturday. In the second-last round of the season, the Bulldogs sealed the minor premiership with a commanding performance.Wagga RSL overcame early trouble to post 9-160, before ripping through the South Wagga top order as they dismissed the Blues for 101.It was some form of revenge for Wagga RSL, who suffered a shock loss to South Wagga in the one-day final a fortnight ago.Saturdays win put the Bulldogs further in front on top of the competition ladder, but at the same time put South Waggas position in second spot on jeopardy."There's a lot of pressure on South Wagga now," Wagga RSL captain Ethan Bartlett said."They've got to win this week. They don't want to do what they did last year and go straight out."Luke Oakley was the star for Wagga RSL as he tore the South Wagga batsmen to pieces.Oakley captured 4-16 off eight overs and claimed the scalps of South Wagga captain Joel Robinson (0), Adam Whitbread (3), Grant Wells (15) and Scott McRea (0).Bartlett said his effort ended South Waggas chances."Luke bowled really well," Bartlett said."When you finish with 4-16 off eight you haven't done too much wrong."The game was over when he finished his spell."They were 5-40 at drinks and it was well and truly over."James Richards did the damage with the bat for Wagga RSL, scoring a well put-together innings of 60.He received support from Oakley (21), and Michael Fitzsimmons (17) later in the innings.Bartlett was happy with what the Bulldogs got out of the match."We won it pretty easy in the end," Bartlett said."We used it as a practice and get plenty of overs into the guys we wanted to before finals."I was very happy to get past 150 too, I was pretty confident at that stage especially with the few they had out."
