An investigation is continuing in the state’s south-west after a man and woman died in an ultralight aircraft crash yesterday.

Police and other emergency services were called to a property on Stockinbingal Road, Cootamundra, shortly after 6.30pm (Saturday 7 April 2012) after the aircraft crashed and caught alight.
The two occupants – a 50-year-old man and 53-year-old woman – died at the scene.

It’s believed the pair took off from Temora a short time before the crash.
Officers attached to Cootamundra Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which is being examined by specialist officers.
Investigating officers are attempting to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
