LOCAL concern has been raised over the lack of restrictions when printing photos at retail stores after a resident witnessed a group of men printing photos of a nude woman last week. The photos of the woman were transferred from a mobile phone to the printing station via bluetooth and the witness who saw the photos said they were obviously taken by the woman and then sent to a mobile phone. The witness was disgusted to see them in public and contacted The Daily Advertiser, saying the group of five or six men printing the photos were loud, laughing and boasting about what was in the photos. The witness said it was unlikely the woman knew the photos she had sent of herself were being spread around the group of men and were then being printed in public. Both Big W and Harvey Norman told the Daily Advertiser that when printing photos it is hard to monitor every photo but if a staff member finds photos offensive they can choose not to print them.Sharon Sim, a personal assistant at Harvey Norman, said whenever a staff member feels uncomfortable printing photos, "they just say no".Manager of Big W, Milton Schirmer said there are hundreds of photos that are printed each day and it is hard to keep an eye on every single one, but certain images that are deemed pornographic or disturbing are not allowed."We don't allow pornographic photos to be printed," he said.Mr Schirmer said in some cases it is difficult to determine what is pornographic or not, because everyone has different interpretations."Pornography for some is no clothes on, or some people are offended by children in swimmers," he said. "But we do not allow pornographic photos and it all depends on the level of severity." Police said that there isn't too much they can do with pornographic issues unless they involve children.Printing nude pictures is not against the law and isn't an offence.
