THE KU KINGFISHER Preschool turned 50 on the weekend. All families and staff who had walked through the preschool's doors in the last five decades were invited to attend the 50th birthday celebrations on Saturday. An open day was held from 10am until 1pm at the centre giving people the opportunity to take a walk down memory lane, view the renovated facility or revisit their youth with the many photos on display."It's all gone really well, we had about 150 people through over the morning," director Amber Suffolk said.A display of memorabilia and photos were on show for residents."Everyone was really enjoying looking through the old class photos and information on how the centre was built, and we also had a lot of other photos and newspaper clippings."The current children who attend the Kingfisher Preschool may not have a lot of years to reminisce about but they were treated to face painting and balloon animals and Miss Suffolk said they enjoyed the old class photos just as much as the older generations. The preschool has had a lot of renovation work in its 50-year history, and it was the gardens that received the most compliments."The yards have been developed considerably so a lot of people are commenting on how beautiful they look," Miss Suffolk said.Residents who attended the celebrations enjoyed a morning tea which was donated by friends and family of the Kingfisher Preschool.
