The State Emergency Service received 75 requests for assistance overnight, mostly from the Cootamundra and Cooma areas, with roof damage and flood threatening the main reasons for the calls.
Around 100 people and businesses are being affected by the current evacuation warning in Cooma.
Up to 80mm is expected to fall in a band between Broken Hill in the west and Wollongong in the east.
Despite less-than-expected rainfall overnight, flash flooding could still occur in the Riverina, Snowy Mountains and south west slopes and motorists are urged to never enter floodwater.
The Murrumbidgee valley remains the subject of a Bureau of Meteorology flood watch, which will be reviewed by 11.30am this morning.
