Dog attack: Police call for assistance

Yesterday, a mother and her two-year-old daughter were in the Victory Memorial Gardens when the mother heard her child scream. She turned to see a dog, described as small, solid and black in colour with a collar, attacking her daughter. The mother kicked and punched at the dog, the dog then released its grip and ran from the scene. The child was conveyed to the Wagga Base Hospital where she underwent surgery to her face. Police are calling on the owner of the dog, or any person who may know the identity of the dog or its owner, to contact Wagga Police. This area is well frequented by pedestrians and this creature poses a real threat to public safety.
