Evelyn De La Torre, 43, lost her life in a single vehicle car crash on Scenic Drive, near Beaumont Lane, in Young on January 5. The 21-year-old female driver of the car was also killed.
Daughter Jessica De La Torre sought community assistance through a GoFundMe page she created to raise funds to help with the expenses of her mother's funeral.
But nothing could prepare her, or her family members, for the influx of support that would come.
In just a matter of days, the GoFundMe page has accumulated upwards of $10,000.
Miss De La Torre said she was shocked at the outpouring of generosity from those in the community.
"We're super thankful for all of the support we have received," she said.
Before the GoFundMe page was started Miss De La Torre and her father Mark De La Torre had been torn as to how they were going to find the funds to cover funeral costs.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Mum didn't have a will or anything like that set up so there were no plans in place for us to do anything really," Miss De La Torre said.
"She did have funeral insurance set up but she cancelled it towards the end of last year, silly girl. So, the funds have given us the ability to give her a funeral."
And not just any funeral, according to Miss De La Torre, but the kind of funeral she said her mother deserved.
Miss De La Torre described her mother as having been someone who brought great joy and happiness into the lives of those around her.
"She loved to have a chat and made sure everyone's needs were above her own," she said.
"Evelyn was such a beautiful natured woman who will be dearly missed by family and friends."
Loved ones have since placed flowers at the scene of the crash to honour the mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. "Evelyn passed away on impact and thankfully felt no pain in her passing," Miss De La Torre said.
All funds will go directly to funeral costs and the remaining funds will go to any unexpected bills.
