The Farrer under 17 competition has been the source of some problems in recent years with a number of clubs being unable to field teams.
The last-minute withdrawal of Temora from last year's competition sunk the under 17s to four teams last year, a disappointing result given nine clubs make up the Farrer League.
But there is some optimism heading into the 2022 season. Temora have already indicated they expect to be back in under 17s.
East Wagga-Kooringal have also indicated to AFL Riverina that they are doing their best to assemble a team for this year's competition.

AFL Southern NSW community football and competition manager Tom Walker said Farrer clubs had until late February to confirm their participation in under 17s.
"We'll have the same four clubs and Temora. I know East Wagga are trying really hard to get a team up too," Walker said.
North Wagga, Marrar and Northern Jets fielded under 17.5 teams last year, while Coleambally and Barellan came together to form a team, the Three Blues.
Walker said once team numbers are known, a draw will be constructed in time for the Farrer League season. It is expected to be out by mid-March.
An under 17 team is a requirement for any club wishing to compete in AFL Riverina's new premier league in 2023.
