On Saturday evening, SES units executed eight flood rescues due to drivers travelling through floodwaters across the Riverina.
These incidents have been added to the 750 requests for assistance made to the local SES since last week's supercell battered the region.
SES Deputy Zone Commander Barry Griffiths says the messaging could not be simpler.
"Do not drive through floodwater, there are always other ways to get to your location," he said.
"Every person that we rescue has always assumed that they'll make it out the other side."
As floodwater continues to cause an issue as a result of recent heavy rainfall, Mr Griffiths is reminding drivers to regularly check resources such as LiveTraffic for updates on road conditions.
Those who encounter an impacted road that may not be known to the area's local council are asked to think twice before driving into danger.
"We're in a regional community ... so it can take some time before someone can rescue you, and it may be too late," he said.
"Your family's life isn't worth taking that risk."
