We have had a member of our house diagnosed with COVID.
Our instructions were that once you have had COVID you should not have a PCR test for six months. If you do, the PCR test will show false positives for that period.
The member of our family was provided a medical form stating she would show a false positive for COVID and was exempt from testing
With the current community attitude of avoiding testing for COVID, the inability to test given the long queues and other factors, our state is most likely hiding a more substantial outbreak than what is reported.
I am concerned for every individual who does not have a positive diagnosis when infected.
Simply, if we maintain a requirement to test 'negative' to COVID before entry to hospital for operations, literarily thousands of people may have elective surgery scheduled, and then be denied their operation at the scheduled time (and need to isolate) as they have tested positive for COVID months after their infection.

HELP ON HAND FOR LOCAL MEN
As I write, many local men with prostate cancer are struggling to ride the wave of the Omicron variant.
Their treatment has been upturned by a health system under strain, and they face increasing uncertainty about the future.
Local men and families who need information, advice and support are urged to call Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia's telenursing service.
The service is staffed by expert nurses who are specially trained in all aspects of prostate cancer care.
Whether you have questions about your treatment, or concerns about COVID's impact on cancer patients, we are here to help.
For men who are struggling with the psychological and emotional impacts of their diagnosis, our team is available to talk.
We can also help connect you to support groups and assistance in your local area.
This year, while the pandemic continues to bluster around us, over 18,000 Australian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
As Australia's number one prostate cancer charity, PCFA is here to ensure no man walks alone when a diagnosis strikes.
Call us on 1800 22 00 99 or email enquiries@pcfa.org.au. Our services are made possible by community donations.

DRAWBACK OF GENDER QUOTAS
Existing workplace gender quotas only apply to highly-paid, safe, and comfortable white collar jobs.
From January 1, the Victorian government's Building Equality Policy mandates that 4 per cent of labour hours for apprentices and trainees working on publicly funded construction projects are completed by women.
Equality for women has resulted in women completing dangerous, laborious, poorly-paid, dirty and noisy tasks.
