The five-year-old made it seven wins from eight starts for Narrandera couple Ellen Bartley and Blake Jones as he stormed to victory on Saturday night.

Sitting off a hot tempo set by Whereyabinboppin ($3.90), Nerano charged clear of his rivals coming for home before going on to defeat Sporty Dancer ($8.50) by 15.7 metres.

The $1.35 favourite took almost three seconds off the track record with his mile rate of 1:56.7.

Clara Clare's previous mark of 1:59.3 was set in her 2020 cup victory.

Jones could not have been more impressed.

"He was really good," Jones said.

"I was unsure how the race would pan out but when Boppin got pulling I was sitting back there pretty happy.

"I wasn't too worried about how far in front he was as he was always going to have to come back to us.

"Even if they had of walked he is probably still the quickest one in the field but whether he was close enough was the question.

"When the pace rolled he seemed to like it and when I pulled him out and picked up them real quick and just went straight on by."

The win provided Jones and owner Michael Boots a feature double across Leeton's carnival.

The pair took out the MIA Breeders Plate on Boxing Day with Sugar Apple before taking out the cup on New Year's Day.

Both were in record time.

"I said on Breeders Plate night if I won one race for the night and it was that one I'd be pretty happy and I came here thinking the same thing," Jones said.

"I had a few chances but to win those two I'm pretty happy with.

"You definitely wouldn't knock them back being the local races."

After an unlucky second at Riverina Paceway last time out to snap his winning streak, Nerano is compiling a very impressive record.

He added a Leeton Pacers Cup victory to his Griffith Pacers Cup success in November.

Jones admitted the former Kiwi has been a surprise package.

"Before we gave him his first start he just did what he had to and doesn't get a real high heart rate at home," he said.

"I wouldn't have said he would do this.

"His work was ok but everytime he goes to the races he's got a bit better."

While the Temora Pacers Cup is the region's next feature race, Jones expects to bypass it in favour of a Junee Pacers Cup tilt.

"I think he would get around the track but I don't think I will take him

"I think he's still eligible for Junee and he'll probably draw 10.

"We'll more likely aim up there than Temora but it's not completely ruling Temora out."

Temora race on Tuesday before their Carnival Of Cups meeting on January 15 while Junee aren't holding cup heats this season.

Instead their one-out final will be on January 25.
