Hundreds of Wagga residents and visitors reunited with friends and family members for the Light the Lake New Year's Eve bash at Lake Albert.
The event proved to be a somewhat bittersweet reminder of what it is like in a world without restrictions and self-isolation, causing many to toy with the idea that perhaps 2022 will be similar to that of a pre-pandemic year.
For travel enthusiast Caitlin Rynehart, after a long ban on travel, she is hoping the new year will provide her with opportunities to go to some of the places around the globe that she has never been to before.
"I would like to travel more in 2022," she said.
"I'd like to be able to go overseas."
Other attendees are instead choosing to look within in the new year and focus on themselves after a year of hard reflection.
For Alicia Rynehart, her desires for 2022 are more on the side of personal goals and aspirations that she hopes to not only set for herself, but also see followed through this year.
"For 2022 I would like to see a better focus on health, fitness and motivation," she said.
And for others, they are taking a whole picture approach and focusing on the community instead.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Music enthusiast Lyla Cluff said she is hoping to see a year full of events, not only to provide opportunities to residents but to offer support to local businesses, as well as to those within the live entertainment industry.
"I'd like to see more events in 2022," she said.
"I think we all need it after last year and the year before that.
"Whether it be more opportunities for live music, markets, shows, the whole shebang - you name it.
"So yeah, that would be good to see and that's about it."
And it's a very real possibility, with events already making a rapid comeback.
For Wagga artist Georgia Crowden who has an upcoming exhibition at the gallery, she is looking at 2022 as an opportunity to work hard and in turn watch her work flourish.
