Spectators are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or camp chair along to the lake tomorrow when 'Light the Lake' celebrations kick-off from 4.30pm.
The highly anticipated fireworks show will begin about 9.30pm.
Large crowds are expected, and people are urged to spread out across the foreshore to enjoy the view.
Organised by local business Colab Creative, with financial and logistical support from Wagga City Council, the event will feature live music and entertainment around Apex Park.
"There will be limited food options at the event, so we're trying to encourage people to bring food and drinks with them," event manager Oliver Hoffmann said.
Musical acts preparing to take to the stage include The Cable Guys, Reckless and Groove Factory, while aerial performers from Zana Dance Academy are gearing up to thrill crowds with their tricks and routines.
Mr Hoffmann said cleaning measures were in place to make sure the event was run in a COVID-safe way.
Cleaners are employed to work throughout the evening and he said "being outdoors helps us a lot" as well.
The organisers are hoping that spectators will spread out right across the foreshore in an effort to socially distance and stay within their household groups.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"People can even watch it from their cars if they're worried," Mr Hoffmann said.
Excitement has been building for the lakeside fireworks and New Year's Eve celebrations after the 2019 display was cancelled amid bushfires, and the 2020 event was scaled-down due to the pandemic.
"We expect it's going to be a great show," Mr Hoffmann said.
Hundreds are expected at the foreshore tomorrow night to watch the on-water fireworks, which will run for approximately 12 minutes.
Wagga City Council said traffic management will be in place for the duration of the event, from roughly 4pm to 11pm.
Apex Park car park will be restricted to accessible parking only, and traffic marshalls will be on-site to direct traffic.
Mr Hoffmann encouraged people to find a car park on a nearby street and walk across to the lake.
