A fire weather warning has been issued for the northern and southern Riverina fire areas.
The Bureau of Meteorology said hot and dry conditions combined with fresh and gusty southerly winds will result in elevated fire danger over these areas during Sunday.
Severe fire danger is forecast in the southern Riverina, with very-high fire danger expected in the northern Riverina.
The southern Riverina fire area includes the local government areas of Berrigan, Edward River, Federation, Murray River and southern parts of Murrumbidgee.
The northern Riverina fire area includes the local government areas of Carrathool, Griffith, Hay, Leeton, Narrandera and northern parts of Murrumbidgee.
A total fire ban is also in effect for both areas.

A total fire ban means no fire may be lit in the open, including incinerators and barbecues that burn solid fuels like wood, charcoal or heat beads.
All fire permits are suspended and no general purpose welding, grinding, soldering or gas cutting can be done in the open.
Due to the increased temperatures and very high winds, the NSW Rural Fire Service's Southern Border Zone has requested harvest operators carefully consider whether harvesting is appropriate and safe to do on Sunday.
The RFS said farmers considering harvesting are strongly advised to check weather conditions, check the grain harvesting guide, and check equipment.
The fire authority said farmers should only begin operations if it was safe to do so and regularly reassess the conditions.
"Under the predicted conditions, fires can start easily and spread rapidly," the RFS said.
"They may have the potential to threaten life and property, as well as destroying millions of dollars' worth of crop and equipment.
"The NSW RFS appreciates the cooperation of farmers on days of heightened fire danger.
"Stopping harvesting until weather conditions ease lowers the risk of fires breaking out and can prevent a great deal of damage."
