Freshly ground espresso coffee and barbeque bacon and egg rolls were available at the Edel Quinn hostel from early on Christmas morning with an open invitation to all to attend.
St Vincent accommodation team leader Bonnie Jackson-French said the breakfast had been a success.
"We had a bit of a rush this morning, about 10 people and then it quietened down a bit," she said.
"It has been good and we have had a good response from the people who have come here. They wouldn't have had anywhere to go otherwise and it was nice to provide them with breakfast."
The event had to be hastily reorganised for takeaway only service due to the NSW government reinstating mask rules on Christmas Eve.
"It was originally going to be a sit-down breakfast but we had to make some changes due to COVID. The people who came here took their breakfast rolls to go," Ms Jackson-French said.
"We are very grateful for the support form the community who made a lot of donations. I think today cost us only $100 due to everybody who donated."
This Christmas was the first time the event had been run after Ms Jackson-French was inspired to set up the breakfast after asking Edel Quinn hostel clients what they planned to do on Christmas.
The Christmas event was an extension of the Breakfast Club that St Vincent de Paul runs to provides breakfast to school children aged between five and 12.
Volunteer Claire Lawlor said she gave up part of her Christmas Day to help cook and serve breakfasts because it was part of the "spirit of Christmas".
"It's all about giving and helping others," she said.
The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church's Rapid Relief Team made coffee to order for the event.
"We do a lot of work with Edel Quinn and they asked us to help out, so we were happy to bring down our coffee machine," team leader Rohan Lindqvist said.
