Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show that about 3000 more people found some form of employment over the past three months.
The participation rate, which is the proportion of working-age people engaged in the labour force, has risen to 70.1 per cent.
The last time the Riverina had a participation rate above 70 per cent was in September 2019.
"The latest jobs figures are encouraging - it is always good to see unemployment rates on a downward trend and seeing more people finding work," Riverina MP Michael McCormack said.
"The Regional Australia Institute continues to report record-high regional job vacancies, with more than 74,000 job advertisements in October.
"Just last week on his visit to Wagga, the Reserve Bank Governor Philip Lowe said the unemployment rate in the Riverina was 'substantially below the national rate', which puts the region in the best possible position to navigate any economic turbulence caused by the Omicron COVID-19 variant."
Department of Social Services data shows the number of people claiming JobSeeker unemployment payments has continued to decline across the Riverina.
Wagga saw 25 fewer people receiving JobSeeker in November compared to October, for a total of 2438 recipients, while the Riverina dropped by 62 recipients to a total of 5420, just a few hundred above the pre-pandemic level.
Business NSW Murray-Riverina regional manager Anthony McFarlane said the region might have to look at upskilling to meet the demand for workers.
"There's strong momentum across the state and the Riverina is no exception," he said.
"The key indicators of unemployment and the participation rate are very strong when compared to other regions around NSW," he said.
