In Wagga, the MLHD's testing clinic on Murray Street will operate from 9am to noon from Christmas Day until December 28, while its showgrounds drive-through clinic and the Wagga Laverty Pathology drive-through Clinic on Tarcutta Street will remain closed during the same period.

Testing clinics within some smaller townships including West Wyalong, Tumbarumba, Tumut and Gundagai, which normally do not operate over weekends, will not be operating on December 27, according to the MLHD.

As of 8pm on Thursday, 5612 people were diagnosed with the virus from 164,144 tests conducted across NSW within 24 hours, and 129 cases are yet to be assigned to an LHD.

There are currently 382 COVID-19 cases admitted to the hospital, with 53 people in intensive care, 12 of whom require ventilation. A Sydney woman in her 90s who was fully vaccinated has also died.

Across NSW, 94.9 per cent of people aged 16 and over have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 93.5 per cent have received two doses.

Of the people aged 12 to 15, 81.6 per cent have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3 per cent have received two doses.

NSW Health encourages everyone who is eligible to book into a NSW Health vaccination clinic or another provider without delay, with waiting periods between a second and third dose of a vaccine having been slashed to 4 months.

As of Friday morning, masks are compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings, including for hospitality staff and in offices, unless eating or drinking.

From December 27 until January 27, QR code check-ins will be compulsory and new social distances rules specify that one person must remain two square metres from another within an indoor setting.

Vaccinations can be booked at more than 100 providers across the Riverina by using healthdirect.gov.au.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches or pains, and a change in taste or smell.
