Three firefighters crews rushed to the home on Cobb Street, about 9pm on Saturday and spent four hours putting out the blaze.

Station Commander Nathan Pascoe said the flames had already gone through the roof on arrival, which was only five minutes after they received the call from triple zero.

"The man had a working smoke alarm which alerted him to the fire because they were all asleep, and he evacuated his elderly parents," he said.

"Our main concern was the exposures on the left and right as the flames were being forced by wind to impinge on the sides so we concentrated on saving those houses."

Fire investigators, working alongside police, have ruled the fire as "not suspicious".

Mr Pascoe said the fire started in the lounge room at the front of the house, but as everything inside had been destroyed the cause had not been determined.
