A young boy has been charged over the alleged assault of a young girl in Wagga after a video of an attack was shared to social media.

About 11am on Sunday, a group of youths gathered in a park at Ashmont, before the group allegedly assaulted an 11-year-old girl.
A video of the incident, seen by The Daily Advertiser, has been circulating on social media. Officers attached to Riverina Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.
The four-minute footage shows a young girl being tackled, kicked and kneed in the face by at least two people.
A voice is also captured saying "this is kind of like a lesson" to not trust anyone and "you really think I am going to protect you against all these" people.

Other people are heard egging someone on as they chase the girl down and yank her by the hair to the ground. The video also shows the young girl screaming for help as other people film.
Following inquiries, police attended a home at Ashmont to arrest a 10-year-old boy about 11.45pm before taking him to Wagga Police Station where he was charged with common assault.
The boy was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on February 22, 2022.
Police are continuing to conduct inquiries into the incident to identify any further youths involved.
