The school accumulated an array of groceries which were then donated to the house to be distributed to the families using the service.

Ronald McDonald House Wagga executive officer Lisa Simpson said being able to provide the families with pantry staples allows them to stay by their child's side during recovery without worrying about not having the everyday essentials.

"Families who stay with us often come with little notice or in the middle of the night," she said.

"We try to take away as many worries as we can.

"Having pantry items on hand means there is one less thing for families to worry about."

With Christmas just around the corner, Mrs Simpson said the donations come at the perfect time.

"Last year we had families staying over Christmas and it meant so much that we could provide a Christmas lunch and dinner for them without them having to leave the house," she said.

While the items serve the families during their stays, Ronald McDonald House Wagga also sends pantry packs home with them to prevent them from going home to empty cupboards.

Items include washing detergent, cleaning products and drink and food items.

Support also came from the staff and students at Henschke Catholic Primary School who raised enough funds to cover 20 nights of accommodation for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House Wagga through its Blooms and Bubbles event.

Mrs Simpson said that in one year alone the Ronald McDonald House Wagga hosts more than 100 families.
