Wagga zoo curator Wendy McNamara said the two girls, Autumn and Winter, and the boy Loki were born just over a week ago.

"We are bottle feeding them at the moment, and they are just starting to come out for plays with the public as well," she said.

The fawns will be available to meet, pat, and even maybe feed between Monday to Friday at 10am and 2pm for about 30 minutes.

"Everyone will get the opportunity to come in, get a cuddle and have a pat, and we will have a couple of bottles going around," Ms McNamara said.

While it is not the first time baby deer have been at the Wagga Zoo, it is the first time they have been hand-raised.

"Deer are naturally super flighty creatures, and generally they don't like human interaction, and you can't get close to them," Ms McNamara said.

"So, hand-raising them from day one gives us the opportunity. They bond to people, and they love the attention."

Ms McNamara had some tips on how to ensure one of the three come up to say hello.

"The main thing is just to remain quiet and nice and still," she said.

"They do like if you make little kissy noises, and sometimes they will respond to that and come over.

"Just let them come to you. Don't chase them. They will come over."

Ms McNamara said Autumn, Winter and Loki would continue to have meet-the-public sessions for as long as they are comfortable.

"It really depends on their size and their willingness to keep it up," she said. "Hopefully, it will be for a couple of months, but definitely over the school holidays."
