As of Wednesday, the course will now be open for members and their guests.

The course will remain closed to the general public but members are allowed to invite up to three guests for a social round.

It comes after the club made the decision to close the course to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We're open to members and now member's guests," secretary-manager John Turner said.

"It's always under review but with the COVID rules changing on the 15^th, we're now open to members and member's guests. Members can bring up to three people to make a group of four."

Golf courses were closed completely for a short period in April last year as part of the restrictions surrounding the pandemic.

Wagga Country Club re-opened but only for members since then.

Turner explained that the club will continue to monitor its position but there was no immediate plans to re-open to the public.

"It's always under review but the first people that have to get a game are our members," Turner said.

"Wednesday afternoons are full, Saturdays are full and we've started competitions on Sunday and Friday, which are really well supported.

"It's about honouring the members at the first opportunity. They've paid the fees and they've still got the choice to play with guests in a social round."

Wagga Country Club will be closed for Christmas Day but will be open every other day for members and guests.

The club have competitions running through the festive season. A medley will be held on Sunday, December 26, while normal Saturday competition will be held on January 1, just with a one tee start instead of the usual two.

Online bookings remain essential.

Meantime, Wagga City Golf Club is open to the general public.

It will close for Christmas Day but will be open every other day.

Wagga City Golf Club professional Tim Barlow said it has been a busy period at the club and expects that to continue through the break.

"We've been going great guns," Barlow said.

Barlow said the course is open from 6.30am with 24 carts available. Bookings are essential.
