Local physiotherapist Rhiannon Hitchens joined six of her work colleagues from Active Physiotherapy and two members of the Wagga Country Club to undertake the massive 12-hour golfing challenge, known aptly as 'The Longest Day'.
The challenge began at 5.30am on Monday and involved 72-holes of golf, with the team walking about 40km during the day.
Ms Hitchens said her workplace picks a different charity each month to support and that the Cancer Council fundraiser meant a lot to each participant.
"There's a few of us at work that really enjoy golf and all of us know a lot people that have been touched by cancer, so it makes a lot of sense for us to pick this day," she said.
Ms Hitchens lost both her grandparents to cancer many years ago and said that everyone in her group has a close family member or friend diagnosed with, battling or having survived cancer.
It was the group's second time completing the challenge and Ms Hitchens said there are plans to make it an annual event.
"I feel like it's actually a little bit easier than last year," she said mid-game on Monday.
"I think having that experience we were able to plan how we worked today and we're making good time."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The team's main goal this year was to beat their 2020 fundraising effort of $3733 which they have well and truly surpassed with more than $4200 raised.
"I think we've probably all grown personally, physically and mentally," Ms Hitchens said of the challenge.
"It's really a tough day, but also coming together as a team and supporting each other through that has been nice."
