Klemke was surprised to learn of his win on the weekend, where he held off young gun Ed Perryman by one vote to win the Demons' best and fairest for a fifth time.

Klemke was unable to attend the presentation due to work commitments and did not expect to feature in the finish after playing just nine of the Demons' 15 games.

"It was a bit of a shock. A bit surprising," Klemke said.

"I didn't really deserve it. I feel sorry for Ed (Perryman). Ed deserved it the most and would have won it if he didn't miss those games through suspension."

Klemke won four consecutive best and fairests at Collingullie-Glenfield Park from 2015-18.

He then departed for the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), where he suffered a disastrous injury in the opening game of the season.

Klemke returned to Collingullie this year and managed to add another best and fairest to his collection, despite suffering a season-ending knee injury in round 10 against Griffith.

At just 27 years of age, the win elevates Klemke into rare air at Collingullie.

"It's an honour, it is such a great club with a proud history," Klemke said.

"I don't feel like I'm up to Frank and Brad and the level they set but to be on par and be recognised alongside them is pretty special."

Klemke is due to have a cleanout of his knee in February and will attempt to play next season after it initially looked like the knee injury was going to bring a premature end to his career.

"I'll give it one more go," he said.

"I'm still young enough to give it one more crack."

Klemke's availability will be crucial as the Demons' look to contend for the 2022 premiership.

Klemke has welcomed back his younger brother Matt for next year, in what has been a promising recruitment campaign that has also netted Steve Jolliffe and Sam Stening.

Meantime, Collingullie coach Brigetta Hart won the A grade best and fairest.

Hart finished ahead of Hannah Finemore to take out the top award.

Tiffany Lashbrook (A reserve), Chelsea Hosie (B grade), Grace Rutherford (C grade) and Senna-Rose Ladule (under 17s) took out the lower grade netball best and fairests.

Ally Stone took out Collingullie's inaugural women's footy best and fairest, from Morgan Taylor.

The experienced Kal Sykes won the reserve grade football best and fairest at Collingullie, while Lachlan Bruckner picked up the under 17 top gong.

A feature of the presentation day was the life membership awarded to Michelle Forrell.
