Smith snared the top four St Michaels batsmen at Rawlings Park on Saturday before contributing with the bat as well.
He made 29 and his opening partnership with captain Isaac Cooper (37) had the Bulls on track for a comfortable victory before Saints got back into the contest on the hunt for their first win.
Lake Albert were in trouble chasing 167 before a quickfire 55 from Tim Post ensured the Bulls were victorious.
Despite a scare midway through their innings, Cooper was pleased with the three-wicket win
"I thought we set ourselves up well with the ball, restricting them to 166," Cooper said.
"We were reeling at 4-80 after losing a clump of wickets but Tim came out and turned the game on its head with a 24-ball 50.
"It put us in a good position and we got home in the end."
