As of Friday, 93 per cent of NSW adults are fully protected against COVID-19, and 94.7 per cent have received a single dose.
Restrictions will ease when the state reaches 95 per cent double vaccination or on 15 December, which means the new rules will come into effect by mid next week.
The following rules will apply to all people in NSW, regardless of their vaccination status.
1. Masks
Masks will only be required on public transport and planes, at airports, and for indoors front-of-house hospitality staff who are not fully vaccinated.
Previously all indoors front-of-house hospitality staff had to wear one, regardless of their vaccination status.
Masks will be strongly encouraged in settings where people cannot social distance.
2. QR Codes
Check-ins will only be required at high-risk venues, including hospitals, aged and disability care facilities, gyms, places of worship, and funerals or memorial services.
It will also apply to places that provide personal services such as hairdressers and beauty salons, limited hospitality settings including pubs, small bars, registered clubs and nightclubs, and for indoor music festivals with more than 1000 people.
3. Vaccination Passports
Proof of vaccination will no longer be required by the Public Health Order for most activities. However, businesses can still require proof at their discretion.
Vaccine passports will still be required for indoor music festivals with more than 1000 people and cruises with over 100 passengers.
4. Visitors
There will be no limit to number of visitors in residential homes and no limits to numbers for outdoor public gatherings.
All visitors to residents in aged care facilities and disability homes are permitted in line with their policies.
5. Weddings and religious services
Weddings will be permitted with no limit on numbers, eating and drinking will be allowed while standing and dancing is permitted.
The same will apply to funerals and places of worship open to all.
6. Social distancing and COVID Safety
There will be no density limits in place, when previously it was one person per two square metres.
Singing and dancing will be permitted indoors and outdoors for all, and drinking indoors and outdoors may be seated or standing.
Music festivals can reopen with a 20,000 person limit.
COVID safety plans will be optional for businesses and will be supported by SafeWork NSW.
