A breakdown of the case numbers by local government area is not available, as the health district recently switched from daily to weekly updates with a focus on vaccination and testing numbers.
NSW Health's ongoing sewage surveillance program has also detected fragments of the virus that causes COVID-19 in sewage samples Narrandera where there are no recent known cases.
Everyone who has been to these areas recently is urged to monitor for the onset of symptoms, and if they appear, to immediately be tested and isolate until a negative result is received.
Meanwhile, more than 500 COVID-19 cases have joined the NSW tally but there have not been any deaths recoded in the latest update.
NSW Health said there were 516 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday, detected through 90,223 tests.
Across the state 158 people are in hospital and 24 require intensive care.
