The debut of Sharing Stories, Sharing Place at the Civic Theatre will feature six young people from Wagga, holding a mirror up to cultural difference and uniting together to share their "amazing, courageous, and magical" stories.
In a partnership project with STARTTS, Create Hub Riverina and the Wagga Civic Theatre, the ground-breaking and locally produced work has been spearheaded by a team of creatives from near and aboard including the shows writer and director Alyson Evans.
Ms Evans has spent her career advocating for cultural development and social change through the creative arts and is proud to present her latest production after nine months of hard work.
"Particularly for us in regional areas where we get lots of travelling performances from the city, I feel really excited to have this story that is made by young people right here," she said.
"It's a real celebration of our community, and getting to know our community more through performances like this is beautiful."
Actor Lydya Hasan said she was nervous ahead of tonight's premier but is excited to share her story with the town she now calls home.
"I'm so happy to be on stage for the first time, I've never been on a stage before," she said.
Miss Hasan moved to Australia from Iraq when she was twelve and invites all to come and see the performance where she along with her new friends will share their journeys from now until December 12.
