Dr Gracy Gouda of Trinity Medical Centre said it was a "great honour" to be named GP Synergy Supervisor of the Year for the Murrumbidgee and ACT training region.
"It means that I have been thought of and have been appreciated by my registrars and that is such a rewarding feeling," she added.
Dr Gouda is a long-time GP supervisor, mentoring registrars as they move from the hospital system to start their specialist GP training in a community setting.
"To be able to find a mentor who can passionately guide, during those very early steps, is much appreciated as it encourages the new generations to pursue general practice, which I believe is a wonderful career," she said.
"I enjoy not only teaching my registrars but actually learning from them as well."

Georgina van de Water, CEO of GP Synergy, said that GP supervisors and general practice staff are essential in training up-and-coming GPs for the workforce.
"[They] play a crucial role in ensuring these GP registrars develop the skills and knowledge needed to understand and meet local population health care needs," she said.
Across the Murrumbidgee and ACT region there are more than 200 accredited GP supervisors, currently training nearly 160 GP registrars.
