In his first senior coaching appointment, Luff will replace Gundagai teammate Luke Berkrey.
The star hooker is excited for the chance to get a taste of coaching.
"I've only coached a couple of minor league sides so apart from that this will be my first coaching gig so I'm really looking forward to it," Luff said.
"When I was first asked to take on the role I thought it would be a good to have a crack at coaching but at this level your coaching ability isn't too necessary and it is moreso your ability to manage players, make sure the team gets along and I think I will be able to keep team morale pretty good.
"Hopefully I can get the boys around it and we can have a common goal of trying to win a few games and go as deep as we can in the championships."
Luff was part of the team who went down to Illawarra South Coast in last year's Country Championships semi-final, despite comfortably beating them just weeks earlier.
However he expects to see plenty of different faces in the line up this time around.
"It is going to be interesting as I think I've lost about 11 players from last year's year side so it is going to be a new batch of players but I'm confident I've got a lot of young blokes who are keen to go," Luff said.
"A lot of them have been involved in junior Riverina sides and know how the season works. My biggest thing will be getting everyone on board and ready to go."

Riverina have again drawn to face Wests Tigers and Illawarra South Coast this season.
Once more they will hit the road to tackle the Tigers in Camden on February 27, which is the same weekend as the West Wyalong Knockout, however Wagga will play host to the Steelers the following weekend.
Luff is looking forward to the chance to play on home turf.
"It will be good to finally get a home game," he said.
"I've been involved in the system for a few years now and never had a game in the Riverina so it will be good to hopefully get a big crowd there to support everyone."
