Two of the new cases are residents of the Murray River Shire, while three are Albury residents.
Two of these cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, and there are currently 53 active cases of the virus across the health district.
The latest MLHD report, published Monday, is the first COVID update released by the health district after it announced it would no longer issue daily reports.
Instead the MLHD will release a weekly update every Monday, providing information about how the region is tracking in vaccination and testing numbers.
Public health alerts will continue to be issued when there is a notifiable area of public concern or action required, an MLHD spokesperson said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The MLHD said the "vast majority" of COVID patients across the district are receiving care via the hospital in the home program, and there are no patients in hospital or the ICU with the virus.
Currently 98.2 per cent of MLHD residents over 16 have had their first dose of a vaccine, while 95.6 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile 85.4 per cent of those aged 12 to 15 across the health district have had their first dose, and 77.4 per cent are double-jabbed.
An MLHD spokesperson said that NSW Health will continue to contact people diagnosed with COVID-19 directly, as well as their close contacts and anyone who needs to follow specific health advice.
"If you receive a message from NSW Health, it is important that you follow the advice in that message," the spokesperson added.
Since July 1 there has been a total of 1,041 cases of the virus in the MLHD, including 14 deaths.
In this time period there has also been a total of 351,769 COVID-19 tests conducted by the health district.
Across the state on Monday 208 new cases of the virus were recorded, and no deaths. 61,132 tests were conducted in the 24-hour period to 8pm Sunday.
The MLHD is continuing to urge people across the district to come forward for COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
Vaccinations can be booked at more than 100 providers across the Riverina by using healthdirect.gov.au.
Testing in Wagga is available at the MLHD's Murray Street testing clinic between 9am and 4pm daily or the drive-through site at Wagga Showground until 6pm daily, at Laverty Pathology's drive-through site in the Riverina Playhouse car park off Tarcutta and Cross streets from 8am daily, and at the GP-led respiratory clinic at Glenrock in Glenfield Park between 9am and 5pm weekdays.
"Anyone currently experiencing, or who has recently experienced, even mild cold-like symptoms is asked to come forward for testing," an MLHD spokesperson said.
"If you have any symptoms it is important that you isolate until you can be tested and until you get a negative result.
"Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, runny nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches or pains, and a change in taste or smell."
For further testing locations across the district go to www.mlhd.health.nsw.gov.au, or for help accessing a test call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 Hotline 1800 831 099.
