The Toy Run has been running for more than 30 years, supporting hundreds of local kids by donating toys to the Salvation Army and St Vincent de Paul's.

After the ride, community members, organisers and volunteers and the general public gathered outside the Wagga Civic Centre.

District Toy Run coordinator Pat Combs said this year there were about 225 riders to participate.

Each rider donates a children's toy and is given a raffle ticket to go into the draw to win one of several prizes.

"We had about 225 riders, it's been good, it's average, it's about what we get every year, what we expect," Mr Combs said.

"We gave away 189 raffle tickets this morning, just short of 200 but we picked up a few riders on the way, so I reckon we had about 225."

While Christmas is a time for joy for many, for some, it is a time of struggle.

"Many kids would not get a present this Christmas if we didn't do this and it's sad when it happens in a town like this, but it does happen," Mr Combs said.

"What happens is, we split the toys we get into two groups.

"Half goes to Vinnie's and half goes to Salvos and they go out in Christmas hampers."

Mr Combs said whilst he was happy with the number of donations, he is always looking for more.
