Wagga Christian College's Katelyn Armstrong, 17, was one of the 3756 students in NSW to sit the paper, which brought to an end chaotic months of study.

She said it was a good feeling to finally finish and have the exams behind her.

"It probably wasn't as climactic as I was expecting because most of my friends have already been done for about a week," Miss Armstrong said.

"But it's a good feeling to be done and to not have that obligation to study everyday."

The teenager felt the achievement was a little bit sweeter considering the challenges the past couple of years have posed.

"It has been such a dragged out year that it's just exciting to be finally done. We've been taught to stay on our toes and work with what we've got."

Miss Armstrong is now looking ahead to next year when she plans to study physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in Orange.

Her principal, Phillip Wilson, has watched final year students go through the end of school process for more than 25 years now and said this year's cohort would be particularly ready for future challenges.

"The last two years for this group has been building up their resilience," Mr Wilson said.

"They've had to try and learn some things by themselves or remotely which probably got them ready either for study or work more than many past groups."

Sarah Mitchell, the NSW Minister for Education, congratulated the outgoing Year 12 students on reaching the end of the HSC.

"I am incredibly happy to see them so triumphantly reach the finish line," Ms Mitchell said.

"The resilience, focus and adaptability they have shown will serve them well in the next chapter of their life."
