The Bulldogs only managed 83 in their first match of the season and after three washouts are looking to turn things around when they face Lake Albert at Rawlings Park on Saturday.
"Batting is where it lies and we definitely disappointed ourselves in round one but it wasn't the easiest of conditions to bat in," captain Sam Perry said.
"Leading into round one we had prepared quite well, we looked good in the nets and while I know it is a different story but everyone seems to be hitting the ball well.
"We just need to be able to take it onto the ground and convert."
There is one change for RSL with Ben Masterson to make his first grade debut.
Coming in for the unavailable Rod Guy, Perry believes Masterson's inclusion is a reward for the off-spinner.
"He's been pretty consistent in twos for the last couple of years and I think the way he has approached training with his eagerness to learn and contribute to the team has got him into first grade," Perry said.
Lake Albert started the season off with a good win over St Michaels.
After the three washouts, Perry knows it's an important clash.
"They've probably had the wood over us and we did emphasis they will probably be finishing around the mix with us so it's one of the games you can't afford to drop if you want to finish in the top four," he said.
