In fact, over the Christmas period, in some cases, the Meals on Wheels Wagga volunteers are the only visit some clients get.
So, it is no surprise the Meals on Wheels Wagga volunteers go out of their way to help makes Christmas a little bit more special for those clients- starting with some delicious festive meals.
Thanks to the generosity of the South Wagga Lions Club, Meals on Wheels Wagga will be able to distribute 320 individual Christmas cake servings which were kindly donated.
Each of the 150 local clients will be given two cakes each.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Wagga Meals on Wheels president John Craig said each client will also receive a gift card from the Turvey Park Girl Guides along with a soft drink, lollies and a gift from Wagga Wagga Meals on Wheels.
"We are indebted to South Wagga Lions Club and the Turvey Park Girl Guides for the gifts that bring joy to each and every client on our Meals and Wheels service," Mr Craig said.
Meals on Wheels deliver around 30,000 meals to its clients every year, throughout the year.
Mr Craig said the meals are catered to each client.
"Our service has flourished during the COVID-19 pandemic as our clients have been able to access nutritious meals without having to leaver their homes," Mr Craig said.
"The variety of meals we provide is extensive and caters to a wide variety of tastes and religious and ethnic backgrounds."
