Fellow veteran and mate Michael Woods started the GoFundMe page with a goal of raising $80,000 for a community chamber to reduce Mr Fewson's expenses of having to travel to have the treatment and to enable him more time with his wife and children.
Mr Fewson's mother in law Wendy Cheney said Mr Fewson requires hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) which she said he sustained due to situations he was exposed to whilst serving.
"Brad's TBI has occurred by being caught in numerous bomb blasts and explosions while he had been overseas," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"On June 1, 2014 he collapsed for no apparent reason and six months later he had deteriorated so fast that he had to completely give up work and now requires a 24 hour carer.
"His symptons of a TBI have been debilitating and constantly varied."
Mr Woods said the family has faced financial strain ever since ever the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) stopped covering the costs of Mr Fewson's medical bills.
Mr Woods believes the DVA is responsible for covering Mr Fewson's medical bills as he is in possession of a DVA health card.
A spokesperson from the DVA has rebuked the allegations.
"While the department cannot comment on details of individual cases, claims that payments to Mr Fewson have been cut off are not correct," the spokesperson said.
"Veterans' are able to access a range of personalised health care and other support services tailored to their needs, and DVA is working closely with Mr Fewson to assist him to access the supports he is entitled to.
"The department's priority is ensuring veterans receive the best care available."
