Wagga Stamp Club secretary Peter Simpfendorfer said he was pleased with the turnout.

"We had people come from Beechworth, Canberra, Stockinbingal, Orange, Batlow and Albury," he said.

"It's mainly collectors who come with something in mind, but we've had a few come in with items to sell."

As Australia heads towards a potential cashless society with the further introduction of digital currencies worldwide and an increase in digital transactions, coin collections are feeling conflicted.

Mr Simpfendorfer said cashless societies are already becoming a new way of life, and while the transition will raise the value of collections, it also means they will become harder to get.

"[Cashless societies] is definitely where the world is going," he said.

"Value wise [a cashless society] is [good], but if your not just collecting and you're not worried about the value then it is concerning."

Mr Simpfendorfer said with they are already noticing a reduction in cash flow within societies with the increase of digital transactions and new currencies being launched.

"I read somewhere that Sweedan has just introduced a new digital currency, (eKrona)," he said.

As for stamps, Wagga Stamp Club president Bob Evydean said the day when stamps cease to exist is also coming.

"Stamps are already becoming harder and harder to get," he said.

The next Stamp and Coin Fair will be held in Wagga in May of next year.
