The club held its first races of the season on Saturday with eight boats competing on a lake so full that it had started lapping at the walls of the boatshed.
Club Commodore Garry Williams said the the past few years of low water levels had seen membership numbers decline.
"We have had a shrinking membership but now with current water levels as they are, our membership is becoming more enthusiastic and we are looking to rejuvenate the club," he said.
"This club has members who have done everything from sail on Lake Albert to taking part in the Sydney to Hobart, and state, national and international events."
The sailing club maintains nine sailing boats for club members, particularly those new to the sport who wish to learn new skills.
Club member William Gunter, aged 11, said he was excited to get back on the water.
"We wish we had some more people to come and join in," he said.
"It's great fun and we have a bunch of beginner boats in the shed as well, so beginners and experts can have some fun on the lake."
The variety of craft enable learners to progress their skill level and to find a class of boat that they enjoy.
"There's a low level of funding required to be involved in the sport and there are experienced people available for training," Mr Williams said.
"We're very encouraged by the fact that the NSW Water Minister and Wagga City Council have agreed to utilise up to 1.8 gigalitres of river water to bolster the lake in cases where the catchment does not generate sufficient water.
"That gives us a lot more confidence that we can provide ongoing support for opportunities for people to go sailing."
The sailing club meets mainly on Saturday afternoons from 12:30pm, when club members of all abilities from beginner to champion meet to rig up and sail in a handicap event set by their ability.
"Anyone wishing to learn to sail should contact the Club by a text message to 0407 235 545, or head to the Website www.waggawaggasailingclub.com.au , so that the club can arrange your introduction to this great sport," Mr Williams said.
