The Wagga Health and Knowledge precinct is part of a 30-year vision for the area around the Wagga Base and Calvary Riverina hospitals to attract complimentary health services and businesses.

Wagga City Council adopted a master plan for the precinct in December 2019.

Premier Dominic Perrottet, Deputy Premier Paul Toole and Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced the Wagga precinct funding on Saturday as part a $500 million package for rural health.

"Our focus has always been ensuring rural communities get their share of health upgrades so staff and communities have access to enhanced services on their doorstep," Mr Perrottet said.

The council's master plan for the Wagga precinct includes more parking, green open spaces, better pedestrian access and integration with the multiple universities that have a presence in the area around the Docker and Edward streets intersection.
