The match committees for both junior and senior cricket made the early call on Thursday afternoon to cancel the weekend's round.
Wagga Cricket operations manager Paul McKelvie said they were left with little choice after a couple of days worth of heavy rain.
"Basically, we liased with Council, who shut the grounds for Thursday and Friday. That makes pitch preparation, with rollers and stuff, impossible," McKelvie said.
"With the predicted rain, if we get half of that before Saturday, we're going to be in a no-win situation.
"We decided to make the early call and make it easier for everyone to make other arrangements."
The cancellation of this weekend's matches mean most grades of cricket have been unable to complete a game yet this season, a remarkable fact heading into December.
The competition already made a late start due to COVID, then two of the three first grade games in the opening round were decided via the Duckworth Lewis system.

Now, the next three rounds have all been washed out.
McKelvie revealed the board will now explore a number of options in an effort to make up games given the senior competition only comprised of 12 one-day matches.
"We're going to have to review from here on in and what has to happen to try and get a legitimate season," he said.
"We'll review the T20 competition and see what happens there.
"The other thing is, there's no guarantee this will be the last wash-out either."
McKelvie said Wagga Cricket were equally as concerned about the junior competitions, given many teams are yet to play this season.
Starting from next week, some under 10 and 11 games will be played midweek in an effort to catch up.
"We're not forgetting juniors either. Some teams haven't played a game yet," McKelvie said.
"Maybe we have to look at some Saturday-Sunday weekends to make rounds up.
"We'll explore all options."
