The MLHD reported 12 new cases of the virus on Thursday, including three in the Wagga local government area (LGA). Five infections were reported in Griffith, three in Albury and one in the Murray River LGA.
On Wednesday there were no cases in Wagga and two across the district, and Tuesday saw just four cases across the MLHD.
MLHD COVID-19 coordinator Emma Field said there has been "a considerable decrease in the numbers over the last couple of days, which is very pleasing to see."
She said that the "far majority" of the recent cases are linked, involving household contacts, and that the health district isn't concerned about any community transmission at this stage.
Ms Field also said testing rates remain pleasing, with more than 550 people in Wagga being tested in just one day recently.

Meanwhile the state government has updated the roadmap for the easing of restrictions on December 15, or when the state reaches the 95 per cent double dose vaccination target.
From then there will be no density limits, COVID safety plans will be optional for businesses, QR check-ins will only be required at high-risk venues and proof of vaccination will no longer be required for most activities.
Masks will also only be required on public transport and planes, at airports, and indoors for front-of-house hospitality staff who are not fully vaccinated.
