Davison and nine other owners threw in $200 each to purchase Deep Field online, in the knowledge the chances of him racing again were bleak.
But their patience has more than paid off after Deep Space ($3.00) won the Wagga Early Years Learning Centre Maiden Plate (1200m).
The win took Deep Space's earnings to a touch over $22,000 in four starts.
"Around the country area and that, you'd think he'll get away with a few more," Davison said.
"He was an online sale this time last year. He had a high suspensory injury and the report was that it would be doubtful if he got back to racing.
"Each start his fitness has built up, it's been good."
Simon Miller did the steering as Deep Space won by a long neck with a short neck separating Lunar Kiss ($11) and Beans ($4.80) in second and third.

Davison was happy with the effort.
"He's been knocking on the door," he said.
"He didn't get it easy in front there. I think Princess Warrior served it up to him then he got away. He'd had enough on the line but he does fight to the line and he was able to hold on, so it was very good."
Davison said they will wait to see how the five-year-old pulls up before deciding what's next. He is tempted to stretch him out to 1400m.
"When we first started we thought he might only be a 1000 metre horse but his last run confirmed to me that 1200 would be no problem," he said.
"He's got that good gate speed and can possie up. He's always going to put himself in the race, maybe not lead all of the time, but today was a good day to lead.
"We might even give him a try at 1400, where the pace isn't on as much and see how he goes."
